Plastics SA, PETCO, Polyco PRO NPC

In the quest for sustainable solutions, several organisations have emerged as key players in the plastic industry, working towards a more responsible and circular approach. Plastics SA, PETCO, and Polyco PRO NPC are among these remarkable entities that are driving positive change.

Plastics SA serves as the representative body for the entire plastics industry in South Africa, promoting responsible production, use, and disposal of plastics. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, they actively advocate for sustainable practices and support initiatives that address plastic waste challenges.

PETCO, the PET recycling Company, focuses specifically on the recycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) plastic packaging. Through their extensive network of collection and recycling partners, they have established a successful model that encourages the recycling of PET bottles, reducing their impact on the environment and promoting the use of recycled PET in new products.

Polyco PRO NPC (Polyolefin recycling Company) is committed to advancing the recycling of polyolefin plastics, such as polyethylene and polypropylene. They work collaboratively with industry stakeholders to develop sustainable waste management solutions and promote the responsible use and recycling of these plastics.

These organisations exemplify the power of collaboration and industry leadership in driving positive change in the plastic sector. Through their initiatives, they not only promote responsible plastic production and consumption but also foster the development of a circular economy where plastics are re-used, recycled, and given new life.

With their combined efforts, Plastics SA, PETCO, and Polyco PRO NPC are paving the way for a more sustainable future, where plastics play a vital role in a circular economy, and their impact on the environment is minimised. Their commitment and dedication inspire us all to re-think our approach to plastics and work towards a more sustainable and responsible future.

Plastics|SA represents all sectors of the South African Plastics Industry including polymer producers and importers, converters, machine suppliers, fabricators and recyclers.

Together with our associations, we play an active role in the growth and development of the SA industry and strive to address plastics related issues, influence role-players and make plastics the material of choice.

PETCO is the trading name of the PET recycling Company NPC, a registered Producer Responsibility Organisation (PRO) that was originally incorporated in 2004 as a voluntary Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) organisation to represent the South African plastic industry’s effort to self-regulate post-consumer polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycling.

Polyco PRO NPC is a non-profit company focused on making waste a valuable resource that works for our economy. We aim to grow the collection and recycling of plastic packaging in South Africa, to promote the responsible use and re-use of this plastic packaging and to end plastic waste in the environment.
